**NINJA rocks LOCALFEST 2011**

Well hot damn if the biggest greatest outdoor great northwestest metal festival wasn't a hot fire blast of good times!


LOCALFEST returned for it's second year - put on by VANLOCAL360 - many thanks to Travis & Sandoz for endless verve & spit!


Your favorite speed rock (through a fun filter) band ::NINJA::  finished off the show with one of their classic deception-ary protocols featuring the 6th ninja SCOUT thrashing about in the red roofed barn flanking the thundering stage. With microphone in hand he belted out the opening overture from high in the haybarn ---- or was he??


The band have used this device many times in battle and in relative peacetime in ol' Japan back in the day. The crowd seemed to enjoy being part of this classic bit of rock & roll hide & seek and grew fevered with fabulous battle treatment.


Word of the blast rifled through the campers and the night ended with a dizzying rash of stage divers - - >


Will the band be any fun next saturday at the Plan B club in Portland?

NINJA tours the great Northwest!

Many years in the making, with a full staff working around the clock, the NINJA department of rock embarked on a stunning 4-day tour this past week.  Hitting The Comet in Seattle, Slabtown in Portland and Standing Ovation in Longview, Washington, the boys made sure to schedule a day off in the middle in order to properly re-sharpen their swords and re-fill the fog machine.

NINJA rocks Vancouver!

As if they needed more rocking, Vancouver found itself completely rocked Saturday night as NINJA rolled into town and fogged, strobbed, blew fused, masked up, strummed down, stick broke and face melted the night away!


The thrill of Total Success was achieved when I glanced in the kitchen and saw the cook proudly wearing one of our classic NINJA tees!  The hot chick bartender, too! (not that there's anything wrong with that..)


The clan travels North to Seattle this Wednesday for a return show at The Comet!  Come see us and say HI and get a free pin for saying something nice to any one of us..  really!

I have yet to officially welcome our shiny new NINJA #6, so here it is:  Welcome to our clan, you ferocious, winsome, stealth-stud!


Seriously, this man is the answer to our prayers - a reliable and unassuming scout during our mobile street performances, a talented musician who can step in during sound checks when one of us can't break away from some exciting mission, a fresh set of ears during work on new material, a man with the obvious good taste to hook his wagon to this stupendous project - what a guy!


You, dear reader, can meet this fellow at most of our shows, as he tends the merchandise table, as well.  He offers stylish NINJA-wear, fabulous mini-albums, pins/patches/picture books and inside scoops regarding the exciting inner workings of your favorite band of rock & roll ninjas:  NINJA!


As the years roll by and these transmissions reach the outer stratosphere, all of us will receive our due credit as fun-lovin' creatures who really knew how to inject our souls with super-solid provocative fun fun fun!

Life with NINJA!

Life with NINJA heats up again, dear readers.  This clan of ferocity took it's show to the Plan B rock bar in Portland the other night.  The crowd was hot and hungry, the bar was pouring strong, Spinal Tap was playing on the soundsystem between acts - classic!


NINJA guitarist D. Grimm jumped with vigor again and again.  Explorer Ninja remained steadfast and rock steady.  Drummer Ysan was spellbinding and absolutely awesome.  Throat Rot tapped into energy and body-bending screams from beyond Pluto.  Yours truly, Christo Bas, dug deep to trench out the lowest grooves heard since Fishbone's tough album: Give A Monkey A Brain and He'll Swear He's The Center Of The Universe!


NINJA has a surprise in store for Portland this up-coming weekend, so look out!

NINJA rocks Doug Fir!

Who rocked the snot out of Doug Fir?  We did!

Who had the best time at Doug Fir?  The people!

Well, this ninja has seen some great shows here in Portland over the last few years and a lot of them have been at the Doug Fir.  Sky Cries Mary, Dungen, Dead Meadow, Builders & Butchers, etc., so it was extra satisfying to get the opportunity to play on that stage with my very best pals of NINJA.

We rocked righteously hard and everyone had a blast!  

We have another glorious show planned for Friday night at ghoulish Plan B, also in Portland, and now I must light a candle and stretch my tendons..

In the hallowed halls of KUFO!

KUFO meets NINJA!

What a night!  NINJA descended upon the skyscraper that holds KUFO - Portland's premiere rock radio station - and held court with fab DJ Jeff Allen for an hour.  We made command decisions regarding very important radioland business, played tracks from our mini-album, answered questions from dear listeners who called in from across the country and got to meet Amy, a 12-year old fan from right here in the Northwest!


We hope to bring joy to Amy and her classmates with a surprise mobile guerrilla NINJA show very soon!  That will keep that little tyke up past her bedtime with all the thoughts of glorious ninja-rock running through her sweet head.

NINJA shares stories on KUFO tonight!

That's right, good people - the men of NINJA (and it's not a calender photo spread, by the way) will be telling amazing stories via the radio waves tonight!  Portland's KUFO Viva La Luna show at 9pm will play host to yours truly and some of the other fab fellows from the band, as they play tracks from our mini-album and ask us questions about street hi-jinks and what brand of guitar picks we use..


I'll tell you one thing right now, we will be making sure that Portland knows about our show at swanky Doug Fir this Wednesday!  The sound in this room is stellar, so there will be twice as many ears as there are people in the room enjoying every ferocious nuance of each expertly created musical movement..


Come on out if you live nearby and we will shake your hand, toast to life and rock your bodies!

NINJA Super Bowl Pre-Halftime Show!

Your favorite clan of ninjas celebrated the impending all-american clash of sporty teams at the Super Bowl with an engagement with an epic Iron Maiden Tribute Band called.......MAIDEN NW!  It was the night before the big game.  It was Saturday night in Vancouver.  Long hair, fist pumps, devil fingers, stone-wash jeans, high tops and trashy trashy were everywhere as the rock show hit and everyone drank jello shots and celebrated volume, from the stage and in the hair!  Wow!  Another classic night!

NINJA gets all Portlandia on their asses!

They did it again!  Sneaking up on unsuspecting citizens, your favorite clan of rock & roll ninjas blasted out of our fake wood panelled van and tore through a few juicy numbers before disappearing into the night!  Smoke bombs, flashmobs, portable double kick drums and duets with street musicians - it all happened last night! Good news, people!  Your favorite little clan of ninjas just wrapped up performing and conversing on one of the finest radio stations in the land - KPSU.  That's right, folks - it's college radio!  Nothing more street cred than that, right?  Perhaps a link to the archive will set your guns to stun.. well, perhaps I will end this juicy post and go get that for you.

Post Killer-Show Glow, yo..

Are you kidding me?  Like a finely tuned sword that is out of its sheath and ready to command respect, I am expected to type words to you all so soon after our epic live NINJA show at Dunes in Portland?  Well, I will say that this intimate show featured a deathly moment of total silence before the ferocious rock was unleashed.  I must also say that the good people in attendance for this first time ever show at Dunes built a staggering amount of energy throughout the set - culminating in a throbbing throng of body-moshing by the time the 7th Dragon blasted through the tube amps and drumskins.  Grins, fist-pumps, back-pats, drink dousing and rabble rousing ensued. It was a pleasure for all - see you Friday at the Red Room on exotic 82nd Avenue in Portland!

Much to the chagrin of scenesters everywhere, NINJA has elected to congratulate the Green Bay Packers Clan on their tenacity and victory over their rival Bears from Chicago to vault them into the playoffs!
